Tube Flies

Was just wondering has anyone here ever fly fished using a tube fly?  I've been checking them out online but never seen them in the fly shops here in town.

I've never used a tube "fly" but I've used small tube jigs plenty of times for trout??? Are they similar to a tube jig??? Got a picture?

No a tube fly is actually tied to a tube and the line slides through it and is tied to a hook hanging out the back of the tube. They mortality goes down using these hooks cause they tend to get the fish right in the corner of the jaw. I'm messing with a few this year.

Yeah as far as I can tell the tippet goes through the tube and then you tie a hook on.  You could replace the hook if it ever bent or got dull you could even tie a treble hook if you wanted to. These flies are suppose to last a long time, I would hope so seeing that they cost around four and five bucks.  I am currently taking a fly tying class but the flies we are tying are to hooks only.  Looks like if you wanted to tie a tube fly you could use the same vise although there is an attachment you would need to get for the tube.  I wonder how the trout at the San Juan would react to some of these bugs seeing that nobody most likely has ever thrown them in that water?  I don't have any pictures but I did find pics on the web.  I am not endorsing any of these sites just putting them here so you could see the pictures.  http://www.eumertube.com/index.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62iNMxBKL64
