Still looking for the BIG ONE!

« on: January 29, 2010, 06:14:19 PM »

Just found a awesome video on youtube.  Check it out.

http://www.youtube.com/user/thorn1231#p/a/u/0/IflkFD25nD4

This guy places the reel in the water to create drag and water if flying.  Also check out the way he places the rod behind his head to get enough torque to land his catch.  A very well made video that doesn't look it been up long but has alot of views.

Awesome video! Thanks for posting! I cannot wait to get more carp on the fly this year. I think I am going to tie a cottonwood seed fly for the drain carp in spring.

every now and then I end up at El Vado....there are some big carp in that lake.....and a ton of them too!

I think for the fun of it, Im going to tie up a "popcorn" fly.....those fish can't resist that!

Cool video, I like the long slow motion casts and hook sets.....

I'm not sure if that guys fly rod was long enough.... an 18 foot pole is OK, but he may have been better off with a 20-footer.  Geez.  I was thinking, hey, this guy is a whiz at casting until I realized he's throwing a monstrous rod.

Those carp didn't appear to be as spooky as most carp I'm used to seeing either.  He's dropping some splashy casts right on their head and they rise almost immediately after the line hits the water.  The Carp I know would be splitsville ASAP.
