Well, I haven't posted on here in quite awhile; however, I thought I'd let you know that we are going strong on the ice up here in Iowa. It's been a fantastic season for most of the state... at least the areas that didn't have ice before the heavy snow fell. Anyway, here's a report that I just posted on another site (Central Iowa Anglers)...
Date: 1/15/2010
Location: Big Creek
Time Fished: 2:00 - 5:30 pm
Water Clarity: Excellent… 4-6 feet (?)
Water temp: ICE! 14-16" (?) w/ heavy snow on top
Depth fished: 17-19 FOW
Species Sought: Any and All
Fish caught: Gills, LMB, Perch My son and I joined up with Mark Anderson, Chad Peterson, and Mike DeBruin last Friday afternoon. Rod Woten joined us right a dusk. Great day to be on the ice (aren’t they all)! By the time Kyle and I arrived, the other three were already on fish and had a nice mess on the ice. The water clarity was great and Kyle was able to experience the joys and terrible frustrations of using a camera… the fish were more interested in his swivel, than his bait. After a couple of hours with things slowing down considerably, we hit a second brush pile and everyone once again were on fish… very nice gills with a bonus perch thrown in. Fantastic time… thanks guys!!
Finally had a chance to try out the quad... loved it!!
